So This Is How 2026 Begins in Healdsburg
2026 got off to a loud start. Just three days in, the U.S. carried out an operation in Venezuela, bringing its leader to the United States to face… justice. If this is how the year begins, it’s hard not to pause and wonder what the rest of it might bring.
Life here in Healdsburg has been facing a very different kind of invasion. On January 3rd, rain and fog settled in - and they show no signs of leaving. The town is under siege by water, and the assault has been relentless. Whoever this storm is after - can we just hand them over already? The U.S. may be claiming “successful special operation” abroad, but here at home, the rain seems to be in charge. “What the rain is doing to us is an outrage, a clear violation of international gutter law!” Many highway exits are flooded, so please take extra care out there, members and friends.
Despite all this, CraftWork is booming today - almost all the community table seats are taken, our big fireplace is burning, and it’s warm and welcoming over here. It really feels like everyone is ready to dive back into work, and we’re all for it.
And there’s plenty to dive into. We’re planning a lot of events for our community and for the greater Healdsburg area. This month, we’re excited to host a Crafted Conversations encore event for Andy Katz - our CraftWork resident, a renowned photographer, and the father of Jesse Katz, our Healdsburg-based winemaker who just can’t stop winning awards. This second event wraps up his ongoing photo showcase, so if you haven’t seen it yet, now’s your chance. Tickets are available, and members get a 50% discount - just ask Kayla.
Andy Katz’s showcase is currently running at CraftWork Healdsburg.
Between all the member events - like our Community Breakfast on January 21st and Happy Hour on February 26th - we’re really looking ahead to February. On the 13th, we’re hosting a Valentine’s event dedicated to Fred Astaire (if you know, you know… and if you don’t, you should). It promises to be a magical, Old Hollywood-themed evening, created in collaboration with Healdsburg’s local dance community.
Fred Astaire is a legend of graceful, innovative dance in musical films and theater.
Later, on February 27th, we’ll gather in our fireplace lounge for a comedy night, produced and run by Steve Ausburne and us, and featuring some of the best Bay Area comedians. It’s shaping up to be a wonderful, low-key evening. Tickets will go on sale once we’ve finalized the event name.
We look forward to seeing you at CraftWork - our doors are open, our fireplace is warm, the coffee is strong, and our arms are always ready for a welcome.
