Meet the Founders
Jim Heid is a real estate innovator, sustainability advisor and author. For over 30 years he has advised cities, NGO’s, legacy families and private developers on more positive ways to build community. Trained as a landscape architect at the University of Idaho, he went on to receive a Masters of Real Estate Development from MIT as a way to combine his passion for great design with a desire to get things done.
Over the past five years, he has led over 300 professionals to see how small-scale, incremental development is being leveraged to create more vibrant, enduring communities. The concept for CraftWork emerged from what he saw occurring all across the U.S. From places as varied as Pittsburgh or Phoenix and Denver to Detroit, coworking was the common thread at the center of new ideas, economic vitality and a renewed sense of place and purpose.
Now a full time resident of Healdsburg along with his wife Marty and daughter since 2003. Through their development company CRAFT, they have created some of Healdsburg’s most loved contemporary restorations including the Little House (536 Johnson Street), The Library Cottages (507/509/511 Johnson Street), Maurice’s Cottage (103 Marion Lane). Soon they will begin work on RiverHouse – Healdsburg’s first Cottage Court neighborhood.
