Rare Opening: Your Dedicated Desk at CraftWork Healdsburg
At some point, the kitchen table just stops cutting it. Maybe it’s the change of seasons, the feeling that fall is finally around the corner, or the return of some semblance of routine after summer. Or maybe you’ve simply spent enough days hunched over your laptop on the couch to realize that, yes, your lower back has opinions too.
We understand. And we won’t judge! At CraftWork, we’re very much in the business of letting people work however they need to. But sometimes, you need a place that makes you feel like you’ve arrived - and, conveniently, one of our dedicated desks has just opened up at CraftWork Healdsburg - just in time for fall.
CraftWork sits in the North Maker Arts District (NoMAD), about a two-minute walk north of the Healdsburg Plaza. It’s a particularly good location for people who like their workday to include a little coffee, a little fresh air, and the occasional long lunch. The desk itself is arguably one of the best spots in our 4,5k square-foot space: a 3' x 5' natural wood desk, a comfortable chair, shelving, and enough room for the things you actually use while working. And these desks don’t come up very often! When one does, it tends to get claimed quickly - usually by someone already in our community, or by a local business owner or Bay Area commuter who has finally decided that working from the kitchen counter is not, in fact, a long-term business strategy.
Why a dedicated desk?
A bit of structure goes a long way. Think of it like that yoga studio membership you paid for - the unlimited one you just feel obligated to use. Same idea, but for work. You have somewhere to go, you show up, and somehow, you end up working more efficiently and getting more done. Then you go home. The surprisingly powerful effect of having a little structure in your week is hard to quantify, but easy to notice.
No more unpacking. Your laptop has a home. Your monitor has a home. Your notebook, headphones, charger, and all the other objects that somehow migrate around the house can stay put. Just bring yourself. Everything else is already there. Now get that work done, for God’s sake.
A genuinely good setup. A good workspace needs a solid desk, a comfortable chair, a shelf, good light, and fast Wi-Fi. People all around you are doing real work. You are just as capable as anyone else in the room.
Come when you want. With app-enabled access, the space is available from 6 am to midnight, seven days a week. Early riser? Excellent. Night owl? You’ll have the whole space to yourself.
And then there are the perks, too. Your membership includes high-speed internet, coffee, access to the phone booth when you need to make a call without an audience, and complimentary CraftWork community events. We make a point of creating opportunities for members to actually meet one another - which seems like a small thing until you realize how many people work independently and rarely have a reason to leave their own orbit.
